The Chamber functions through the involvement of its members. They say that you get out of a Chamber what you put into it. Our committees are the best place to start helping out as you get to know people and see how our Chamber works.
The Los Alamitos Chamber ambassadors are a vital link in welcoming new and existing businesses to the Chamber. They attend ribbon-cutting events, grand openings, networking breakfasts and mixers—they are the hospitality committee of the Chamber.
The ambassadors’ involvement with the Chamber includes strategically engaging members by encouraging them to attend Chamber and City sponsored events, visiting new businesses, and contacting existing members. The ambassadors also work with the Chamber office to contact businesses acquiring new business licenses in the City.
Some benefits of serving as an ambassador include creating business relationships, high- visibility networking opportunities, and serving the community. Join this committee if you want to help businesses experience the benefits of the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce.
The membership committee supports the Chamber’s efforts for the growth and development of members. The committee works closely with ambassadors to stimulate member recruitment and retention. This includes contacting existing members 1-2 months prior to renewal date and sending emails to visitors attending events (breakfast, mixers, etc.). The membership committee works with the Chamber office in managing contacts and correspondence with existing members and identifying prospects for potential members.
The social media committee provides updated information for the website, Instagram, Facebook and other social media posts. The focus of the posts is highlighting new members, events, and member recognition. The social media committee assures that photographs and/or videos are taken at all events.
The networking events committee recommend topics and presenters for the monthly breakfast and quarterly lunch and learn events. Proposed topics and activities are presented to the board of directors in January to assist in generating an annual calendar for chamber members. The committee will coordinate with the Chamber office in promoting and preparing for events.
The mixers committee works with the Chamber office in scheduling quarterly networking events, sponsored by members or local businesses. The committee plans games or other fund activities and procures donations for prizes.
The special events committee is responsible for planning and coordination of the Heroes Luncheon and another fundraiser each year. This committee works closely with the Chamber office in organizing events.
The finance committee works closely with a bookkeeper to provide a monthly financial statement to the board of directors. An annual budget is prepared at the beginning of the year and reviewed at each board meeting. The finance committee advises the executive committee on financial and budgeting matters and/or concerns.
